How do I find my cap size?
Knowing your head size will make shopping for a cap much easier! Here are the steps you should follow to find out your correct cap size:
Step 1: Get a cloth tape measure. If you do not have one, use a long piece of string and a ruler. You may want to have someone help you to get the most accurate measurement.
Step 2: Loop the tape measure or string around your head. The tape should be even and smooth all the way around and should sit just above the top of your ears and above your eyebrows.
Step 3: Read the measurement on the tape or measure your string with your ruler. Use our sizing guide to convert the centimeters or inches and find your cap size!
My item does not fit as expected.
We are sorry to hear that one of your caps is not fitting as expected! Here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to fitted sizing:
- Make sure the care label is not stuck in the sweatband lining. Believe it or not, a bunched-up care label can change the fit by one whole size.
- Had a haircut? Difference in hair length can change the fit of a cap by up to two sizes.
- Just like those comfy jeans, caps can stretch to a perfect fit over time. We always recommend re-measuring your head if it's been a few years.
- Our caps are handmade. We love the care put into each cap by the hands that make them, however, mistakes do happen. If you feel you ordered the right size and we didn't deliver, please create a return on our site. If you need assistance with this, please send a message to questions@neweracap.com.

What is the best way to clean my caps?
Due to the diversity of fabrics used to create our caps, there is no “Golden Rule” when it comes to cap care. However, following the recommendations below is a good place to start!
For cotton, polyester, and wool fabrics/blends, we recommend spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild, color-safe detergent (like Woolite®). Gently clean the sweat band by folding the band forward and cleaning with mild detergent and cool water. Remove dust accumulation with condensed canned air or a vacuum attachment with gentle bristles. Allow to air-dry in a natural position to prevent stretching/misshaping.
We recommend you DO NOT do the following when cleaning your caps:
- Machine wash or fully submerge! Our caps are NOT washer friendly.
- Iron or apply intense heat (such as a steamer) to the patches or embroidery
- Machine dry. Air-dry only to maintain size.
- Spot clean across color panels. To prevent bleeding, clean only one color at a time.
- Use harsh chemicals or dry-cleaners.
Please note that caps containing leather, suede, silk, or other designer fabrics require very special care and should not be exposed to water!
*** New Era Cap is not responsible for any damages incurred by following these recommendations. Cleaning suggestions are based on good-faith experience and may not be applicable to every situation.
Can I order a custom cap?
We do not create custom caps at this time.
Why am I required to pay sales taxes?
Merchants are required to collect sales taxes when the customer is in the same state/province or the merchant has "substantial nexus" in the customer's state/province. Nexus is typically defined by physical presence, but may also be defined by business activity, affiliation or other kind of presence.
